Now that our expert team have finished preparing your design, and it has been approved by all parties, we can move on to the die and create your aluminium profile.

If you have landed on this page, why not have a look at our design page first to fully appreciate how we can support you through this process?

You may already know, but an extrusion die refers to a steel instrument manufactured for the purpose of producing bespoke aluminium profiles. At Love Aluminium, we ensure your aluminium dies are replaced at no cost to you should tolerances reach their limit, or breakages occur.

In the event that a new die is required, it will match the exact specifications of the original, and samples can be produced from the new die on request. Once everyone involved in the project is happy and the die sample has been approved, it undergoes a hardening process (nitrided) in preparation for the aluminium extrusion process once more.

Aluminium Dies

The Die Process

Aluminium dies operate by pressing ‘soft’ aluminium into one end and applying pressure, causing it to emerge from the opposite end in the configuration and dimensions first agreed by all parties, based on your specifications.

There are two variations of aluminium dies to consider:

  • Solid Aluminuim Dies – A solid die produces an extrusion without any hollow regions, representing a simple, single-part die not dissimilar to a template.
  • Hollow Aluminium Dies – A hollow die is an extrusion that includes apertures, which could present as a basic circular tube, square form, or even a detailed configuration with numerous hollow spaces. A hollow die is more complicated as it consists of two parts, creating the outer and inner shapes.
